Design Philosophy of the Family Playground: Creating a Safe World Exclusively for Children
Shanghai’s Xin Zhi Ma Family Fun Center is an indoor chain amusement park designed specifically for children aged 0-15. With the theme “a safe haven for children,” the park creates an interactive entertainment space for family fun and bonding. The center features a variety of play zones, including a rainbow ball pit, rope net trampoline, rope net maze, giant slide, rock climbing wall, and grid battle arena.
One of the most popular areas, the play castle, combines a ball pit, climbing rope nets, and slides within a two-story structure, offering kids a range of exciting adventures.
The blue-and-white ball pit not only reduces visual fatigue but is also made from safe materials, providing children with a worry-free environment where they can freely enjoy their playtime—a true haven for carefree childhood fun.
The primary challenge of this project was designing safe, diverse play equipment within a limited space while ensuring it perfectly integrated with the overall park aesthetic. After extensive research and multiple design discussions, our design team finalized the Cloud Net Playground concept. This playground includes slides and rope net swings, which not only add excitement but also help develop children's physical strength and coordination.
